Understanding Funds

Funds are the building blocks of your mosque's financial structure. Learn how to organize your money into specific buckets for clear accounting.

1
What are Funds?

In mosque management, money is often restricted for specific purposes. MasjidFlow uses "Funds" to keep this money separate.

General Fund

Daily operations, utilities, and general maintenance.

Construction Fund

Money specifically donated for building or renovations.

2
Creating and Managing Funds

Navigate to Financials > Fundsto see your current balances. To add a new fund, click "Create Fund".

  • Fund Name: Clear and descriptive (e.g., "Zakat Fund").
  • Description: Optional details about the fund's purpose.
  • Starting Balance: Use this if you are migrating from an old system.

3
Fund Transfers

Sometimes you need to move money between funds. MasjidFlow allows you to record these transfers to maintain an accurate audit trail.

"Fund transfers do not change your total mosque balance, only the distribution between funds."

Best Practices

  • Avoid having too many small funds; keep it simple for easier management.
  • Ensure Zakat funds are kept strictly separate from general operational funds.
  • Reconcile fund balances with your bank statement monthly.

Troubleshooting

Can I delete a fund?

You can only delete a fund if it has no transactions associated with it. If it has history, we recommend renaming it or keeping it as is.

My fund balance looks incorrect.

Check if all donations and expenses have been assigned to the correct fund. One miscategorized entry can throw off the balance.
